Personal Training The Health, Wealthy and Wise host says Margie has changed his life and, at 46, he's found "real happiness". Ronnie's wife, Maggie, isn't worried. She's seeing Marg too! Margie, a personal fitness trainer and aromatherapist, is helping Ronnie lose weight, firm up and improve his emotional well-being. "I started working with Margie primarily because I was carrying the weight," Ronnie says. "I would go to my wardrobe and I knew there were things I couldn't wear. I'd know the jeans would be too tight and that feeling was really getting me down." "I felt - and Margie was on to this - that I had created the tummy as a form of protection. I had to look at what was emotionally holding it there and strip that away."
Ronnie's program includes exercising in the gym and in water, using buoyancy vests. "I'm definitely happier," he says. "It's a shift in my attitude to life. I've got a spring in my step now ands I look forward to my day. But life isn't built around training. It's built around feeling good. The results have been so good for me that Margie is helping out Maggie and my daughter, Lauren."
Ronnie has also embraced many New Age philosophies about life. "This started about 15 years ago when I began looking at all aspects of myself," he says. "The first thing was to stop smoking 60 cigarettes a day. Then I got into the emotional stuff and started meditation to help me understand what I'm doing here. "If you asked me what the main ingredient of the whole thing is, I'd say it's learning to love yourself and I understand that really, really deeply now."
And if Ronnie sounds like a New Age hippie? "There's going to be a lot of New Age hippies around because we have to make some shifts in the world. I hope, by doing this story, someone may be inspired to do something for themselves." Story by Chrissie Camp. |
