Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy simply means "a therapy using aromas". The aromas come from the plant kingdom - flavours, trees, bushes and herbs. I use pure essential oils that have many uses. Our sense of smell, being closely linked with our emotions, plays a large part in recognizing the power of aromatherapy.

Essential oils work quickly on both body and mind. The olfactory nerves pass messages directly into our brains. Scientists have shown that there is a physical and psychological response within four seconds.

Aromatherapy massage is a powerful way to de-stress, elevate your mood, leaving you feeling invigorated and alive. There are many different blends of oils, suitable for different outcomes. Have a massage today and feel the results for yourself!

Stress can have a nasty effect on your body. Stress arouses the hypothalamus, a tiny cluster of cells at the base of the brain. The hypothalamus controls all your automatic body functions. This means that stress not only makes your head hurt, but it also has an impact on a whole range of organs and functions.

Chemicals such as adrenalin and noradrenaline are released directly into the bloodstream, and produce a surge of energy in the body. Stress increases the heart rate, dilates the blood vessels, and the blood pressure is increased.

Even the liver is effected as it leaps into action, converting stored glycogens into the blood sugar. Breathing becomes faster and shallower. Muscles tense. Sweating increases, and the muscles in the bladder and rectum relax. The process of digestion is shut down. The body simply cannot do to much at once.

One of the surest ways to relax in using Aromatherapy massage. The essential oils used in aromatherapy are distilled form a wide variety of fruits, plants and herbs. Their action on the whole body is subtle and profound. When inhaled they act on the brain and nervous system via the stimulus of the olfactory nerves, helping to alter mood, dispel fatigue or irritability, and can elevate depression and anxiety. You can use essential oils in a variety of ways:

  • Inhaling from the bottle.
  • Burning the oil in a burner to release it into the air.
  • Adding a few drops of oil to bath water, releasing its qualities into the steam and through the skin in a diluted form.
  • Massage

Use only pure essential aromatherapy oils. The cheaper oils contain kerosene. Here are some examples for you:-

  • Dry skin - sandalwood, chamomile
  • Nausea - basil, black pepper, lavender
  • Depression - bergamot and chamomile
  • Nervous tension - lavender, sandalwood, rose
  • Insomnia - French marjoram
  • Headaches - lavender, chamomile

The list goes on. Call me today for an aromatherapy massage.
