Mat Classes/Reformer Beds
Here at Vibes Fitness our trainers are qualified in these four areas.
1. Pilate's reformer beds. A reformer bed is a piece of equipment that will work your whole body to the core. The apparatus is a bed-like frame raised a few inches from the floor. The carriage, a moving surface, is rigged to a series of springs and slides along the frame with resistance. On one end, straps are attached to two pulley cords, and on the other, a foot bar is elevated above the machine. You will develop dynamic resistance via a moving surface. The springs that attach the sliding carriage to a the reformers frame, which are added and subtracted throughout the class, makes Pilate's a whole new adventure. The dynamic resistance the reformer provides means you have to work that much harder.
2. Pilate's Institute UK Mat work. This consists of simple mat exercises. The instructor demonstrates each of the exercises, which focus on the often neglected trunk muscles, at various levels from beginning to advanced. During a mat workout the only resistance you have is your own body weight. We run group & mat classes and individual privates sessions.
3. Clinical Pilate's (fit nation) is designed by a physiotherapist. Clinical Pilate's is an adaptation of Joseph Pilate's original approach, modified and changed to make it appropriate for use in a clinical/rehabilitation setting. Specific programs are developed to suit the individual's injury or pathology, as well as their particular sport or level of activity.
4. Another style we teach is Yoga-Lates, this is a combination of Pilate's and yoga exercises and is quite popular amongst our clients.
WHAT IS PILATES?
Fitness Pilate's is a method of exercise and physical movement designed primarily to stabilise the trunk (the “core”), producing more effective stretching, strengthening and balancing of the body. We focus on improving your total body strength, flexibility, posture and balance.
Through systematic practice of specific exercises coupled with focused breathing patterns, Pilate's has proven itself invaluable as a fitness endeavour and an important adjunct to professional sports training. It was developed in the 1920s by the German boxer, circus performer and exercise innovator Joseph Pilate's, and began to gain a following when dancers he was working with discovered it could create long, lean muscles and a strong, streamlined physique.
Pilate's system didn't really hit the big time, however, until the 1990s.
After years of high-impact, feel-the-burn fitness workouts, there was great appeal in a slower, safer approach to health and wellness. Fitness Pilate's can condition the body from head to toe with a no-to-low-impact approach suitable for all ages and abilities. It requires patience, attention to detail with your body and consistent practice, but results are guaranteed to follow if one sticks at it and does it right.
Here at Vibes Fitness you will learn exactly how to use Pilate's safely as a method of enhancing your body’s core stability. And you’ll learn the core principles behind the proper practice of Pilate's –
NOTE:If you do not have a teacher that teaches you ALL the principles of Pilate's and Core activation your Pilate's routines can lead to pain and long-term injury – the very opposite of what its creator intended . You will earn to keep your abdominal muscles firm for the duration of the exercise. We also emphasize correct from and breathing as well as mental concentration.
WHY DO PILATES?
Core muscles support and stabilize your spine, back and hips. This enable you to do a sit-up, get out of chair or straighten up after bending over. If your core muscles aren't exercised regularly, they become weak. This will give you a slack abdomen, poor posture and back or joint injuries.
The goal of Pilate's is to focus every movement back to your spine to improve core strength. As you slowly strengthen these muscles, your core helps you control all your movements, which will make it easer for you. Pilate's will build practical strength that you can use in your daily life. You will develop more body awareness' a leaner physique, increased energy and stamina, improved flexibility and balance, and fewer aches and pains.
